Using the Slant Jack

The Slant Jack is used to balance slant markers so the face is level and the granite secure for etching. It’s used with a standard bottle jack that is for car repairs.

Place the granite on a surface such as the hydraulic lift cart with the nose faced towards the back of the laser.
Placing two pieces of wood or spacer under the granite will aid in getting the granite on and off the cart and also aid in getting the slant jack bottom brackets under the granite.

Next, place the slant jack behind the granite, hooking the edge with brackets. Align the car jack behind the slant jack so the circle of the slant jack will land on the top of the jack when tipped back. Ensure that the set up you have created is secure and doesn’t wobble.

Using a small bubble level, raise the height of the car jack until the face is level. Make sure the car jack is then tighten down prevent sinking. Extra wood blocks under the granite are recommended to prevent sinking of the jack. The slant is now ready to be slid under the laser.
